Numansdorp, approx 20 km south of Rotterdam in the Netherlands was the venue for the 8th European Vintage championships held on the 3rd September.
#John_Costain, from Foxdale, having represented the Island at all the previous matches, continued to fly the Manx flag.
Organised by Ploegvereniging Nederland, the event included the Dutch championships, which saw competitors having an early start when they had a practice plot to plough before their match butt, later the same morning. This year saw competitors from the Netherlands, England, Germany, Isle of Man, Northern Ireland, Scotland, Wales, Belgium, Denmark, France & Ireland all challenging for the title.
The championship commenced with the flag raising ceremony and competitors tried to get to grips with the conditions when they took to their practice plots on Friday 2nd. Dry weather prior to the match, lead to hard ground and so meant that ploughing conditions were made more difficult.
In the end #John_Milnes from England regained the overall title, using his Ransome RSDL drag plough. Runner up was #Jackie_Moore from Northern Ireland and #John_Costain ploughed well to finish in 3rd position. #Tony_Bradley from Wales won the mounted section.
A new feature this year, saw the introduction of a vintage reversible class, which attracted 5 entries
