Manx representatives shine in Doncaster

#Colin_Duggan from Ballavell, narrowly missed out on a top award at the British Ploughing Championships, held at Wilsic, Doncaster. Competing with his Ford Dexta and Ransome plough, he finished as runner up of the vintage classic section, just 4 points behind the winner.

The soil varied quite a lot over the site, and the recent dry spell was giving concern that the ground conditions may have been a bit hard. However, steady rain during Friday night and through much of Saturday morning made conditions tricky, not only for competitors but also spectators. Once the rain had stopped and the ground given chance to soak, the site proved excellent on the Sunday.

There was a significant Manx presence at the match. #Jim_Caine, who ploughed in the horse classes for general purpose and high cut and #John_Costain, who represented the Island in the trailed vintage section. #Jean_Burns and #Jack_Clague were both on hand for judging duties.
